Itinerary Day by Day: (Departures
Friday through Thursday)

Day 1: Arrival Lima.
Assistance on your arrival in Lima and transfer to your
selected hotel. Free time to rest and prepare for starting
your trip around this unusual city and magical country
Day 2: Lima – City Tour. (B)
In the morning, city tour of the "City of Kings", including
the Lima’s Historical Center, visiting Main Square,
Government Palace, City Hall, the Cathedral (Here is the
tomb of Francisco Pizarro, conqueror of Peru), Museum of the
Cathedral, Temple of San Francisco Convent, Lima Colonial
Balconies, Torre Tagle Palace, Paseo de Aguas and Convent de
los Descalzos. Then, drive through the residential district
of San Isidro, visiting El Olivar Park; Miraflores, visiting
the Kennedy Park, Love Park and Larcomar Mall. Free for
lunch. Optional
Day 3: Lima – Iquitos – Amazon River Cruises. (B) (L) (D)
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport to board the
regular flight to Iquitos. Arrival and transfer from the
airport to the city of Iquitos.
City tour. Tour by the main city touristic locations in
Iquitos, including the Plaza de Armas, Cathedral, Iron
house, Boulevard and others. Transport to the river port.
Boarding on the boat; cabin assignment and accommodation.
Briefing on safety, ship details and crew members.
Sailing down the Amazon River. In the afternoon, a stop in
Yanamono. In this place, we will also visit a local sugar
cane still, where cane juice will be offered to all present.
The river travelling will continue throughout the rest of
the day, including the sunset hours, usually with beautiful
skies. Overnight.
Lunch and dinner.
Day 4: Amazon Cruises – Pevas. (B) (L) (D)
Early wake up; after coffee or tea, we will call you for
morning bird watching in the Ampiyacu river. Visit to the
local Bora Indian villages; you will have the opportunity of
buying or exchanging for their handcrafts. Back to the boat
and travelling to the town of Pevas, considered to be the
oldest Peruvian town in the Amazon.
We will visit the workshop of Francisco Grippa, a well known
regional artist whose paintings portrait traditions of the
Amazon. In the early afternoon, a jungle hike along the Rio
Shishita forest, to watch the wildlife the region. At night
hours, there will be a boat excursion to see caimans and
nocturnal animals. Overnight.
Day 5: Pevas – Parana Quiro – Caballo Cocha. (B) (L) (D)
Short walk inside the forest to visit the Paranaquiro
village, where the local people live in close integration
and harmony with the forest environment. After, expedition
for piranha fishing in a small dark water lake. In the
afternoon, a brief visit to the missionary village of
Caballococha, at the shore of a lake with the same name.
After sunset, an optional night walks. Overnight.
Day 6:Caballo Cocha – Santa Rosa – Leticia – Tabatinga.

Early arrival to the Santa Rosa Island, Peru, where the
borders of Peru, Colombia and Brazil meet. Sail upriver.
Time permitting there will be an afternoon or evening shore
excursion by small boat. After dinner the Head Guide will
explain the next day’s activities. Relaxing. Night boat
excursion to see nocturnal wildlife. Overnight.
Day 7: Tabatinga – Peruate. (B) (L) (D)
Early morning Birdwatching trip followed by a jungle walk
near the village of Chimbote. Our guides have a
comprehensive knowledge of the birds of the area and will
also explain to you the many uses of plants by the local
people. Late morning visit the small missionary town of San
Pablo. Optional visit to the Leper hospital run by
French-Canadian nuns and see the handicrafts made by these
people. After dinner take a night excursion on the Peruate
River to look for caiman and night animals. Overnight.
Day 8: Peruate – Pevas. (B) (L) (D)
In the morning we visit Yagua community to see their native
dress, traditional dances and handicrafts. Even though they
no longer wear these outfits made from jungle products, your
visit helps keep these traditions alive.
Opportunity to buy/trade for these items such as natural
paintings, jewelry and woven bags and hammocks. Later, visit
the studio/gallery of a well known Peruvian painter. Late
afternoon shore excursion on the black-water Apayacu River
to see the flora and fauna of the area and possibly, time
and weather permitting, a piranha fishing excursion.
Overnight.
Day 9: Amazon River – Iquitos – Lima. (B)
After Breakfast. Return to Iquitos. At proper time transfer
to the airport and take your flight to Lima. Arrival upon
transfer to your hotel rest day leisure.
Day 10: Lima – Cusco – City Tour and Nearby Ruins. (B)
Early in the morning, transfer to airport to take a flight
to Cusco.
Assistance on arrival in Cusco and transfer to your selected
hotel. Free time to take a short rest to be acclimatized to
the altitude. In the afternoon, city tour of Cuzco visiting
the Main Square and the Temple of the Sun or Korikancha.
Then, drive out of the city to visit the Inca sites of Kenko,
Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive fortress of
Sacsayhuaman, built strategically on a hill overlooking
Cusco; famous for its enormous carved stones joined with
astounding precision to form the outer walls. Some of these
stones stand over 9m / 30ft tall and weight over 350
Day 11: Cusco – Machupicchu. (B) (L)
The day starts with an early morning rise to transfer to
Cusco train station for a three hour train journey to the
famous Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, also known as "The Lost
City of the Incas". Arrive at Aguas Calientes station
followed by a 30-minute bus drive, climbing 6km of winding
road, to the incredible Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, we´ll
participate in a guided tour of the Citadel, visiting the
Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial (Intiwatana),
the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and
various burial grounds.
After the tour you will have time to stroll around the
archeological site at your leisure. Lunch in a restaurant at
Aguas Calientes town. Late afternoon return to Cusco.
Overnight at selected hotel in Cusco.
Day 12: Cusco – Sacred Valley of the Incas. (B) (L)
Excursion to the "Sacred Valley of the Incas", a succession
of picturesque towns, agricultural terraces and
archaeological sites. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays,
we´ll have the opportunity to bargain with vendors or stroll
at the Pisac's typical Indian market, with a catholic mass
service on Sunday (celebrated in Quechua, the native
language).
Lunch at a local restaurant in the Sacred Valley.
In the afternoon pass through Calca and Urubamba towns to
arrive to the Inca Fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo,
which was built to guard the entry of this part of the
valley and protect it from enemies of the lower jungles;
consisting in a series of superimposed terraces of carved
stones accessed by long staircases. We will have the
opportunity to walk through the quaint streets of the nearby
town, religious and agricultural centre during the Inca
Empire, and get a clear idea of the military strategy
against possible invasions. On our way back to Cusco
we will visit the picturesque Andean village of Chinchero
where the remains of what was the royal hacienda of Tupac
Inca Yupanqui lies. Admire its well preserved Inca Wall at
the Main Square, visit the beautiful colonial temple built
on Inca foundations, with interesting frescoes on the
portico.
Back to Cusco in the afternoon.
Day 13: Cusco – Lima – Home.
Early in the morning, transfer to airport to take a flight
to Lima. Arrival and your home or next destination.
