Day 1: Arrival to Lima.
Transfer in a private transportation to the deluxe hotel
(Miraflores Park Hotel or Hotel JTB Marriot) - overnight (no
meals)
Day 2: Lima – City Tour and Archaeological Museums.
9.00 in the morning, city tour of the "City of Kings". The
tour includes visitsto the Huaca Pucllana,, and considered
by the Incas as ñaupallaqta, a "sacred village". We will
show you the Historical Center: Paseo de la República, San
Martín Square, Main Square, Government Palace, Basilica
Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace, City Hall Palace, the
old streets with colonial mansions and Moorish-style
balconies.
We will visit the Convent and Church of San Francisco, the
greatest monumental assembly of colonial art in America. The
monks' Choir and Library; the Vestry, with paintings by
Zurbaran and Rivera; Main Cloister decorated with Sevillian
tiles from the 16th century; Moorish arches, and The
Catacombs, underground crypts from the colonial times.
The tour continues through the more traditional Residential
Areas: El Olivar in San Isidro, Miraflores' Central Park,
and Larco Mar which has become a distinctive symbol of
modern Lima.
Lunch in the Restaurant Alfresco one of the highest notes in
the Peruvian culinary scene
Early in the afternoon, enjoy an overview of Peru's pre-Columbian
history while visiting the Museum of Anthropology and
Archaeology, the largest collection of pre-Hispanic
artifacts, such as Chavin stone sculptures, textiles from
Paracas, Nazca and Mochica ceramics and Chimu metalwork; as
well as paintings, documents and objects relating to
prominent people of Peru's Conquest, Viceroyalty and
Republic times.
Return to your selected hotel for overnight. (Miraflores
Park Hotel or Hotel JTB Marriot)
Day 3: Lima out – Arequipa in – City Tour
Breakfast. Transfer to the Airport to fly to Arequipa. In
Arequipa reception start visiting the White city of
Arequipa. We will visit the Main Square, which presents a
beautiful bronze fountain of three plates crowned with the
figure of a soldier of XVI century. Here we will be able to
appreciate The Church of the Company of Jesus Christ. Next
we will visit the Monastery of Santa Catalina who was a
center of absolute retreat, which stayed closed to the
public by centuries, today is harmoniously recovered and
opened. It allows us to appreciate how the city of Arequipa
was in the XVII century. We will see its streets, gardens,
walls of sillar, etc. Immediately we will be transferred to
the beautiful and green countryside of the Yanahuara
Viewpoint, where we will have a privileged view of the city
and Volcanoes like the Misti, Pichupichu and Chachani.
Return to the Hotel Libertador. Overnight.
Day 4: Arequipa – Chivay
Breakfast. Early in the morning we will start our trip to
the Colca Valley located in the Province of Caylloma at 3
600masl. In our way we will pass by the district of Yura,
Pampa Cañahua, where the vicunas can be appreciated. We will
pass through the old crater of Chucure volcano. Later, we
will arrive at Patapampa, the highest point pf the tour (4
800masl). From this point, the maximum number of volcanoes
that exist together in the department of Arequipa can be
appreciated. We will arrive at the town of Chivay and we
will settle ourselves in the hotel Colca Lodge. Soon we will
have a time to have lunch in the delicious fine cuisine.
Also we will have the chance to visit the thermal baths of
La Calera (optional). Overnight.
Day 5: Chivay – Cross of the Condor - Arequipa
Breakfast. This day we will visit the Cross of the Condor, a
place that has an impressive View of the valley and from
there we will be able to appreciate the flight of the condor
and the depth of the canyon (3 400meters of depth). At
Return, we will be able to visit the town of Pinchillo, the
Hanging PRE-Inca tombs, Litomoquetas, the town of Maca,
Achola, the town of Yanque and Chivay. Lunch in restaurant
of Chivay (lunch on behalf of passenger). Return to the city
of Arequipa. Overnight in hotel Libertador.
Day 6: Cusco – City Tour and 4 Ruins.
Transfer to the airport. Flight to Cusco. Reception and
assistance on arrival in Cusco and transfer to your deluxe
hotel Monasterio.
Lunch in the restaurant el Truco typical cusqueñean cuisine.
Free time to take a short rest to get acclimatized to the
altitude. In the afternoon, private city tour of Cusco
visiting the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Temple of
the Sun or Korikancha. On the way back, pass by the
Hatunrumiyoc Street where you can appreciate the Twelve-angled
stone.
Then, drive out of the city to visit the Inca sites of Kenko,
Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive fortress of
Sacsayhuaman, built strategically on a hill overlooking
Cusco; famous for its enormous carved stones joined with
astounding precision to form the outer walls. Some of these
stones stand over 9m / 30ft tall, and weight over 350 tons.
After back to Cusco. At 20 hrs transfer to Don Antonio
Restaurant Andean gourmet and view typical show dances
Overnight at hotel Monasterio in Cusco.
Day 7: Cusco – Sacred Valley.
Private excursion to the "Sacred Valley of the Incas", a
succession of picturesque towns, agricultural terraces and
archaeological sites. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays,
we´ll have the opportunity to bargain with vendors or stroll
at the Pisac's typical Indian market, with a catholic mass
service on Sunday (celebrated in Quechua, the native
language).
Lunch at a Alambra restaurant in the Sacred Valley.
In the afternoon pass through Calca and Urubamba towns to
arrive to the Inca Fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo,
which was built to guard the entry of this part of the
valley and protect it from enemies of the lower jungles;
consisting in a series of superimposed terraces of carved
stones accessed by long staircases. We will have the
opportunity to walk through the quaint streets of the nearby
town, religious and agricultural centre during the Inca
Empire, and get a clear idea of the military strategy
against possible invasions. On our way back to Cusco we will
visit the picturesque Andean village of Chinchero where the
remains of what was the royal hacienda of Tupac Inca
Yupanqui. Admire its well preserved Inca Wall at the Main
Square, visit the beautiful colonial temple built on Inca
foundations, with interesting frescoes on the portico. Back
to Cusco in the afternoon and Transfer your hotel Monasterio
overnight.
Day 8: Cusco – Machupicchu.
We'll depart to the train station to our journey to
Machupicchu on HIRAN BIGMAN Train (On-board meals with
Peruvian wine, cusqueña Beer, soft drinks and hot
drinks,brunch on outward journey, dinner on return, on-board
entertainment)(4 hours) at 12.30 pm you will arrive to the
Aguas Calientes Townfrom where you will have to take 20
minutes bus to the Archeological site; follow by some time
at leisure, stay overnight and dinner at the SANCTUARY LODGE
or SAMANA.(dinner included at SANCTUARY LODGE or SAMANA
HOTEL)
Day 9: Machupicchu – Cusco.
Morning at leisure by your own, you can visit the day when
the full magnificence of the site reveals itself in all its
majesty (entrance for this day not included on the rate)
return to Cusco where you will arrive around 21.25pm.
Transfer to the Hotel (Hotel Monasterio) (breakfast and
lunch included)
Day 10: Cusco – Puno (Andean Explorer Train).
Breakfast. Early transfer to the Orient-Express Andean
Explorer. This spectacular rail adventure begins in Cuzco
and runs south to the historic city of Puno, on the shores
of Lake Titicaca. The gentle climb is breathtaking. The
first half of the journey is dominated by magnificent Andean
mountains, towering over the deep valleys of the meandering
Huatanay River. It then reaches the gentler, rolling Andean
Plains, where vicuña and alpaca are often seen. Sightseeing
while on board the train is enhanced by a glass-walled
observation car. Dining includes a three-course lunch,
directed by chef Mariano Takinami, followed by coffee served
in the observation car. The journey is broken by a scenic
stop at La Raya, the highest point on the route.
Day 11: Puno – Lake Titicaca.
Early in the morning, we will have an unforgettable
motorboat excursion on the waters of Lake Titicaca to the
unique "Floating Islands" of the Uros. These ancient
inhabitants of the lake, known as the Water Tribe, have
built their own "islands" by periodically adding new layers
of a type of reed unique to the area called "totora" (Scirpus
Totora), vegetable fibre from the Papiro family. Their homes
and boats are also made from this material. We continue our
motorboat trip to Taquile island, inhabited by Quechua-speaking
natives who have developed efficient and unique social
systems, as well as fine hand weaving techniques, down
through generations. After lunch in a local Taquile inn, we
have a walk through the various hills and archaeological
sites of this 6 km long island. In the afternoon, return to
Puno for overnight at the hotel. Dinner whit show typical
music.
Day 12: Puno – Juliaca – Lima.
Early in the morning, transfer to Juliaca airport to take
your flight to Lima. On the way to the airport, we will
visit the famous Chullpas of Sillustani: stone cylinder
burial chambers used by the Aymaras to bury their important
leaders. Lake Umayo, located in front of the Chullpas, adds
further beauty to the place. Here you also have the
opportunity to observe several local typical birds. Upon
arrival in Lima, wait in the Airport for assistance your
international flight. If your flight is earlier, please let
us know to find the better way to schedule the day. |
