Day 1: Arrival to Lima.
Transfer in a private transportation to the deluxe hotel
(Miraflores Park Hotel or Hotel JTB Marriot) - overnight (no
meals)
Day 2: Lima – City Tour and Archaeological Museums.
9.00 in the morning, city tour of the "City of Kings". The
tour includes visitsto the Huaca Pucllana,, and considered
by the Incas as ñaupallaqta, a "sacred village". We will
show you the Historical Center: Paseo de la República, San
Martín Square, Main Square, Government Palace, Basilica
Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace, City Hall Palace, the
old streets with colonial mansions and Moorish-style
balconies.
We will visit the Convent and Church of San Francisco, the
greatest monumental assembly of colonial art in America. The
monks' Choir and Library; the Vestry, with paintings by
Zurbaran and Rivera; Main Cloister decorated with Sevillian
tiles from the 16th century; Moorish arches, and The
Catacombs, underground crypts from the colonial times.
The tour continues through the more traditional Residential
Areas: El Olivar in San Isidro, Miraflores' Central Park,
and Larco Mar which has become a distinctive symbol of
modern Lima.
Lunch in the Restaurant Alfresco one of the highest notes in
the Peruvian culinary scene
Early in the afternoon, enjoy an overview of Peru's pre-Columbian
history while visiting the Museum of Anthropology and
Archaeology, the largest collection of pre-Hispanic
artifacts, such as Chavin stone sculptures, textiles from
Paracas, Nazca and Mochica ceramics and Chimu metalwork; as
well as paintings, documents and objects relating to
prominent people of Peru's Conquest, Viceroyalty and
Republic times.
Return to your selected hotel for overnight. (Maria Angola
or Ariostos)
Day 3: Lima out – Iquitos – Cieba Top Lodges.
Breakfast. Transfer to the Airport to fly to Iquitos.
Reception at the airport, brief city orientation and
transfer to the Explorama dock. Twenty-five mile journey
down the Amazon River to Ceiba Tops, where rooms with air
conditioning and private bathrooms provide the comforts of
home in the rainforest. Afternoon hike in the beautiful
primary rainforest reserve surrounding the lodge which
includes many huge trees festooned with epiphytes. After
dinner there may be local flute or guitar music at the El
Toucan Bar or the guides are always ready to relate some of
the many legends of the Amazon forest.
Day 4: Cieba Top Lodges
Morning boat ride where, as well as dolphin spotting, you
will visit a small village of Yagua Indians where your guide
will explain the local Yagua Indian culture and how it was
affected by the arrival of Europeans and the passing of
time. There will also be an opportunity to see some of the
local crafts and for a demonstration of the blowgun which
some of the Yagua elders still use for hunting. Afternoon
walking excursion to the neighboring town of Indiana.
Originally a Franciscan mission, Indiana has grown into a
large river community with its own market, high school and
small hospital.
Day 5: Chivay – Cross of the Condor - Arequipa
•Your choice of morning walking or boating excursion to
further enjoy the rainforest and Amazon River. Afternoon
transfer to Iquitos and to the airport and flight to Lima.
Reception and transfer to the Hotel (Maria Angola or
Ariostos). Overnight.
Day 6: Cusco – City Tour and 4 Ruins.
Transfer to the airport. Flight to Cusco. Reception and
assistance on arrival in Cusco and transfer to your uxury
hotel Eco Inn.
Lunch in the restaurant el Truco typical cusqueñean cuisine.
Free time to take a short rest to get acclimatized to the
altitude. In the afternoon, private city tour of Cusco
visiting the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Temple of
the Sun or Korikancha. On the way back, pass by the
Hatunrumiyoc Street where you can appreciate the Twelve-angled
stone.
Then, drive out of the city to visit the Inca sites of Kenko,
Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive fortress of
Sacsayhuaman, built strategically on a hill overlooking
Cusco; famous for its enormous carved stones joined with
astounding precision to form the outer walls. Some of these
stones stand over 9m / 30ft tall, and weight over 350 tons.
After back to Cusco. At 20 hrs transfer to Don Antonio
Restaurant Andean gourmet and view typical show dances
Overnight at hotel Eco Inn in Cusco.
Day 7: Cusco – Sacred Valley.
Private excursion to the "Sacred Valley of the Incas", a
succession of picturesque towns, agricultural terraces and
archaeological sites. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays,
we´ll have the opportunity to bargain with vendors or stroll
at the Pisac's typical Indian market, with a catholic mass
service on Sunday (celebrated in Quechua, the native
language).
Lunch at a Alambra restaurant in the Sacred Valley.
In the afternoon pass through Calca and Urubamba towns to
arrive to the Inca Fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo,
which was built to guard the entry of this part of the
valley and protect it from enemies of the lower jungles;
consisting in a series of superimposed terraces of carved
stones accessed by long staircases. We will have the
opportunity to walk through the quaint streets of the nearby
town, religious and agricultural centre during the Inca
Empire, and get a clear idea of the military strategy
against possible invasions. On our way back to Cusco we will
visit the picturesque Andean village of Chinchero where the
remains of what was the royal hacienda of Tupac Inca
Yupanqui. Admire its well preserved Inca Wall at the Main
Square, visit the beautiful colonial temple built on Inca
foundations, with interesting frescoes on the portico. Back
to Cusco in the afternoon and Transfer your hotel Eco Inn
overnight.
Day 8: Cusco – Machupicchu.
Breakfast. Very early in the morning (05: 30 hrs.) a car
will pick us up from the chosen hotel and transfer us to the
train station. The train leaves at 6am and arrives to the
Machu Picchu town (Aguas Calientes) station at 10:00am.
Immediately we will board the bus that will take us to Machu
Picchu. We will continue with a guided visit in this magical
place for about 2 hours, knowing the temple of the three
windows, the solar clock, among others. At the end, we will
have a free time until 12:00 hrs, where the bus will pick us
up and take us to the town of Aguas Calientes. The train to
return back to Cusco leaves at 4pm arriving to its
destination at 8pm approximately. Overnight.
Day 9: Cusco – Lima.
Pick up from your hotel and transfer to the airport - end of
our services (Breakfast included)
