Park Cultural Zone
( 8 days and 7 night )
Manu National Park is a biosphere reserve
located in Madre de Dios and Paucartambo, Cusco. Before
becoming an area protected by the Peruvian government, the
Manu National Park was conserved due do its inaccessibility.
The park remains fairly inaccessible by road to this day. In
1977, UNESCO recognized it as a Biosphere Reserve and in
1987 it was pronounced a World Heritage Site. It is the
largest National Park in Peru, covering an area of 15,328
km². The Biosphere Reserve includes an additional 2,570 km²
and an extra 914 km² are included in a "Cultural Zone"
(which also is protected), bringing the total area to 18,811

DAY 1:- Cusco – Cloud Forest
- Bamboo Lodge
Departure from Cusco city very early in the morning in one
of our trucks specially prepared for this road. We will pass
through interesting Inter-Andean valleys and picturesque
farmer communities. In the middle of the day we are going to
visit the pre-Inca buried towers of Ninamarca, known as “chullpas”.
After that we will arrive to Paucartambo city, which is a
typical colonial town. It had a lot of importance and it
still conserves it’s flavor. Continuing our trip we drive up
until the Abra of Accjanaco which is found at 3850 meters
over the sea. From this point we start to go down passing
through the cloud forest, which is an area rich in endemic
species as the spectacular “Andean Bear” (Tremarctos Ornatus)
and “The Cook of the Rock” (The Peruvian National Bird), “Orquis”,
“Bromelias” and “Ferns” etc.
Then in San Pedro we will visit a lek of “Cook of the
Rocks”, in which these birds every morning and afternoon
made during a very interesting dance called “Displays”.
After that we continue our tour until reaching Bamboo Lodge,
where we will stop and spend our first night.
DAY 2:- Bamboo Lodge – Atalaya – Bonanza Ecological
After eating our breakfast we continue the tour by bus going
through the high forest arriving to Atalaya which is found
next to Madre de Dios river ( 700 meters over the sea). From
this point we start to go down river in a motorized boat (55
hp). At the riverside we will have the opportunity to see a
lot of bird species such as “Herons”, “Vultures”,
“Cormorants” etc. After some hours we will arrive to Aguas
Calientes (a hot spring), where we are going to have a
comfortable bath. Passing three in the afternoon we will
arrive to our lodge, where we accommodate and get new water
resources to be able to take an one hour walk through the
forest. With luck in this walk we will have a possibility to
see Alot of wildlife. After this impressive experience we go
back to the lodge where our delicious dinner is going to
DAY 3:- Bonanza Ecological Reserve. – Boca Manu Oxbow
In the morning we continue our trip down river in the boat
and will later on arrive to Boca Manu Community. Here we
accommodate in our lodge and after that visit the Valles
Oxbow Lake. At the lake we will be sailing in a floating
Catamaran, spotting birds and fishing “Piranhas”. We return
to the town in the afternoon, where it will be possible to
buy beers and other refreshments. At night we will have
typical food of the zone as dinner.
DAY 4:- Boca Manu – Camungo oxbow lake– Blanquillo Lodge.
We will start to sail down Madre de Dios river for two
hours, along the river we will see mokeys, macaws, egrets,
caimans, and the largets rodent in the world called
"capybara" after lunch we will walk for a few minutes
arriving to the Camungo Oxbow lake. Before sailing on the
lake, we will climb a metal tower (42 meters high) next to
the lake from where we can get a beautiful view over the
landscape. We will be enjoying this lake on a Catamaran all
afternoon with the possibility of spotting “Giant Otters”.
When it gets dark we are in the perfect position of spotting
“Caymans” and with luck we will catch one of them. Still
“shaking” after this exciting adventure we will go back to
our campsite to take a deserved rest after a delicious
DAY 5:- Macaw Clay lick– Boca Manu – river bank.
Very early in the morning before having our breakfast, using
a totally camouflaged hidden place we will observe a Macaw
Clay Lick. This is a clay wall on the riverside, where
different species of Parrots and Macaws come down each
morning to extract necessary minerals for their diet
balance. “The Parakeets”, “Amazon Parrot”, “The Blue headed
Parrot” give an unforgettable pallet of colored wild life
and as a perfectly finish to this picture the fabulous
“Macaws” will arrive
After having our lunch we start the returning trip, but to
do this we need to make a short stop in Boca Manu to get
fuel for the boat. In the afternoon we will rise our tents
in an adequate riverbank, where we are going to spend the

by flight, will be brought to Boca Manu airport, where we
will make a stop to wait for their flight.
DAY 6:- River bank – Cusco.
Very early we continue our trip up river until reaching to
Atalaya, where our truck is going to wait to take us to
Cusco. FROM THERE OUR SERVICES END.
