Lares by bike - at a glance
  (2 days /1 night)

Summary: Our transport will pick you up from hotel and, we will begin our adventure at 0700hrs from our Office in Yanahuara where our professional biker guide will ready you for the journey.
This 2 days 1 night riding adventure is a great introduction to the heart of the Sacred Valley, with an itinerary that offers an interesting combination of amazing mountain and picturesque valley scenery, fantastic hilltop vistas, and visits to Inca ruins and authentic Quechuan communities. The riding goes through the Lares Valley and Andean village, highlights includes relaxing in the medicinal hot springs, several snow-capped mountains peaks over 5000m, glacial lakes. The Lares riding is an excellent alternative for those who seek an enthralling insight into Andean life further off the beaten track, as well as sensational views of the mountains and surrounding valleys. Lares is similar in duration, altitude and difficulty to the Inca Trail; it is easily accessible from Cusco and, although in essence a circuit, can also culminate in a visit to the lost Inca city of Machu Picchu. The Lares Valley lies to the east of the Urubamba range, traversing part of the Sacred Valley. Blessed with fecund plains and a fruitful climate, the Sacred Valley was the cradle of the Inca civilisation during the 14th and 15th Centuries.

Intineray Day by Day:(B)= breakfast / (L)= lunch / (D)= dinner

Itinerary.

Day 1: Cusco - Lares
The bus picks us up early in the morning from our hotel in Cusco, we will drive for 3 hours approximately to the highest point on the way (4470m / 14665f); once we arrive at the pass, we get our bicycles ready to begin what will be a relaxing day of mild dirt road downhill. On our way we certainly find the time to stop for a light lunch and enjoy the beautiful views of the region.

In Lares we find the time to relax in the delicious thermal baths. There we will camp. (Breakfast, Lunch).
Average riding distance: 35km
Estimated riding time: 4 hours

Day 2:  Lares - Cusco
After the breakfast, we have the option to visit the ruins and town of Choquecancha. Once the visit is finished, our bus is ready to take us back to the Lares Mountain Pass.

Once again the Mountain Pass is the departure point of our biking ride, but this time heading to the Sacred Valley. The ancient Inca Trail and a quick flowing narrow stream lead us on our way down. Without even noticing it, we go into a small hidden canyon where we may appreciate a few Chulpas (pre Inca tombs) hanging from the walls.

The path leads us to the native community of Totora, where we may decide between following a narrow single track offering breath taking views of the Sacred Valley, or just continue riding on the wide dirt road to Calca town.
