After a
neverending cry from a black sky full of water, the
first rays of the sun appear, allowing the observer to
quietly view the long, serpentine, running streams of
water that quickly get lost in the exuberant vegetation
of the Amazon jungle, inhabited by unruly and noisy wild
animals, little accustomed to the presence of humans.
This natural space is full of color and enchantment.
It's a place which can be explored without ever stopping.
A jewel bathed in torrential rains….To admire, to get to
know, to search for the surprising fauna that slip away
amongst the fertile vegetation, where precious flowers
such as the orchid are to be found in abundance.
Rare animals can be found here, such as the capybara (Hydrochaeris
hydrochaeris) -the biggest rodent in the world - the
giant river otter(Pteronura brasiliensis),the river
otter (Lutra longicaudis), the jaguar (Panthera onca),
the black cayman (Melanosuchus Níger), the south
american river turtle (Podocnemis expansa), the toucan (Ramphastidae),
and the tapir (Tapirus terrestris).
The three toed sloth (Bradypus variegatus) can also be
found, as can the spectacled bear (Tremarctos ornatus),
the spider monkey (Ateles paniscus), yacaré (Caiman
yacare), puma (Puma concolor), manatee (Trichechus
manatus manatus), swamp crocodile (Crocodylus moreletti),
and yellow headed parrot (Amazona oratrix), amongst
others.
This colorful region is home to many surprising species
of flora and fauna, which the traveler can discover on
exploring the reserves, parks and natural zones of this
part of the continent.
The "pequepeques" (motorized canoes) zip through the
mightiest and longest river in the world, the Amazon.
The native peoples who live on its banks hold treasures
of legends and myths, some of which have never been told
before. Wild symphony of day and night; the nature,
mystery and magic of the unkown jungle.
