Tourism
Pucallpa, the department's capital is the most important city. It serves two functions: serving as a port on the Ucayali Rver and as a commercial center.
Near the town of Pucallpa is the beautiful Yarinacocha lagoon. There is a large variety of fauna in this area such as: otorongos, sajinos, sachavacas and ronsocos and birds such as the paujil and the pavo de monte. This department holds the largest mills, paper pulp plants, and the Cerveza San Juan beer plant.
Due to the variety of wildlife and vegetation in the area, Ucayali offers similar tourist attractions to that of Loreto.
