Itinerary

DAY 1:

Cusco – Abra Malaga - Santa Maria.

The tour starts around 6:00 am with the pick up and transportation of the guests in direction to the passage, Abra Málaga (14110 ft/4300 m asl) This is where we will begin the descent by bicycle. After approximately 3 hours of descending across beautiful views and fruit fields we arrive at the town of Santa Maria. Here we will enjoy a delicious lunch in a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, we have the opportunity to raft (+$30 at booking) for about 3 hours in one of the best stretches of the Vilcanota River. This is incredibly enjoyable, however we only offer it during the dry season in Cusco (April-December).

In the evening we stay at a comfortable hostel where you have commodities like Internet and hot water and can enjoy a beautiful view of Cusco Region’s spectacular high jungle.

MEALS: Lunchs, Dinner

Waking up around 6:00 am, after breakfast we will start the trek along a beautiful section of the original Inca Trail. This part of the tour is not to be missed as we will be able to appreciate the old Inca trail. well preserved and still used by local people.

During this trek we will cross waterfalls, rivers, and fruit plantations typical of the area. We will also be able to witness the diverse flora and fauna of the Cusco Region: different species of exotic birds, a wide range of orchids, and various bananas, oranges, avocados, coffee, etc. We will be in the “jungle eyebrow” of the Amazon, one of the richest and biologically diverse areas on the planet.

In the afternoon we arrive at the thermal baths of Cocalmayo, where we enjoy hours in this famous resort of medicinal thermal waters. After this relaxing therapy we are transported to our lodging, located in the town of Santa Teresa. This night is used by most to enjoy a “pisco sour” in one of the small but cozy Pubs of the village.

MEALS: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The third day you will step into the past, history described by your guide on the trail, as we cross routes of the great explorers that discovered Machupicchu and other important archaeological remains. In the morning, those who booked ahead may do the zip line. (+ $ 30 USD) They separate from the group temporarily and then meet afterwards and continue the tour.

After resting and enjoying the landscape, we will descend to a control post called “Hidroeléctrica”, where a warm lunch awaits us. Then we continue to the last part of the tour walking for approximately 3 hours on a mostly flat trail. This part of the tour probably has the best views and landscapes, with splendid waterfalls straight from glaciers, and coca plantations of local people. We walk along the train tracks to reach Aguas Calientes, also called ‘Machupicchu Pueblo’. Once we arrive at our hostel, we take a second to recuperate and then meet in a tourist restaurant where we have a fantastic dinner and coordinate with the guide the next day’s visit to Machupicchu.

Here in Aguas Calientes we spend the last night in comfortable lodging, at the foot of the ancient citadel, Machu Picchu.

MEALS: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After an early morning breakfast at 5:00 am, we will take the first bus to Machu Picchu, arriving early to the Citadel. We will be among the first visitors, before the other tourists arrive from the classic Inca trail and before tourists arriving by train. Our visit will be without many people and we will get to enjoy the magic and beauty of its buildings and its landscape surrounded by mountains, valleys, rivers, etc. Your tour guide will guide you through the most important places in Macchu Picchu for about 2 hours, then you will have a free time to explore around the Citadel or have the opportunity to climb Huayna Picchu. We will then take the bus to Aguas Calientes to board the train back to Cusco in the afternoon.
